Amazing Race 13 Finale

I wanted to share with you and keep forgetting. The last year Mel went from 67 yrs old to 8 yrs old. One of the highlights of his day was tuning in to Tina and her husband on TV. He asked everyone he met, every Dr, stranger etc. if they saw them, and let them know who they were. When he met someone who said yes, it was a 30 minute ordeal-blow by blow on how each episode turned out. I don't know who I felt sorry for those locked in conversation, or me (I do not watch TV) although I sat with him and watched as he was so excited. NO! NO! don't do that-YES keep going! It felt like a date-Tina's comming on in 15 minutes-everything went on hold for an hr to share in his excitement. Thank Tina for me! Gladys - (whose husband Mel passed away of brain cancer shortly after AR13 finished airing)

Hi Ken and Tina,  I met you guys while you were in New Zealand during the Amazing Race - we have just finished the series here, and I was disappointed that you guys didn't win, but was really happy to see that you made it to the end together!  I was the blonde girl who put you in the orange suit and harness when you climbed to the top of the SkyTower.  Tina - you inspired me to give it a go - however I have come up with excuses every time Paul comes to arrange a time for me to do it!  not many people have had the opportunity to climb to the top so I really should make the most of the offer.  I just wanted to say hi, and well done on your efforts over the race.  Jennifer from New Zealand SkyJump

Alma and I have watch several nights and saw the finals Sunday night. We have also seen articles in the Tampa Trib. What a venture!!!!!!!!!. Tina: Congratulations on your finish in the Amazing Race - coming is second (while not first) had to be a very satisfying accomplishment. As I was watching - it was becoming quite apparent that Nick & Starr would be the team to beat - something to do with youth - however, in observing the race - there were times when the outcome was largely due to luck (finding taxis, the taxis actually knowing where you wanted to go etc.) At any rate - job well done. Curious - did your trip down the "zip line" over the Columbia River go any way to relieving your fear of heights?While I am sorry you didn't win the Million - as I remember - your ultimate goal didn't have anything to do with the money anyway. That was a very touching moment at the end - and I realize it has been some time since you actually finished the race and Kenny said those words. If your relationship has improved as he indicated he wanted them to - then I would suggest that you and Ken were the true winners of the Amazing Race - a race to the loving relationship you desired. See you in Memphis and in the meantime - I hope you have the Merriest of Christmas' and Happiest of New Years'. Jim

Howdy, So my friend and I from high school have been chatting back and forth about the race. It has been her favorite show for years so of course I bragged it up that I knew people on the show. Here is her last note to me about it.

Other reality shows pale in comparison to TAR!! I watch some on cable though--if you consider Ace of Cakes a reality show, ha! Plus TAR has Phil...yummy! High on my list of people I'd leave my husband for!! Haha!!

Hi Tina, Just wanted to drop a note… I am still watching the re runs of the show, and the interviews, etc… I have to confess I had several tears running through my face. I can’t tell you how much it impacted me, what an amazing message you brought to the show, a completely different turn…truthfully! I am so glad we met in Panama… I wish you both the best, and I admire you so much for fighting and for showing everybody that it is possible…I also want to confess that I connected more than normal because my parents recently got divorced (also because my dad cheated), so there were moments when I honestly thought there was no hope… but you both showed me once more… an extraordinary message. Thanks so much and all the best! Tina, Thom and I just finished watching the final episode of the Amazing Race.   To use your expression, you and Ken are 'awesome.'  And you were absolutely right when you said that too may people are too willing to just throw their marriages away.  To Thom and I you and Ken won the race in the most important way, because you won each other back.  Tell Ken that I was particularly touched by his leading the little prayer of thanks in the cab on the way to the pit stop!  He seems to be very grateful to have had this chance to win you back, and an 'attitude of gratitude,' is the sign of a great soul.  The other very brave thing he did was to bring your wedding rings to the finish line!  What courage.  You could have said 'no.'  For as difficult as it has been for you these last couple of years, I think the two of you are just GREAT as individuals and will be even more 'awesome' as a couple!  Thom and I hold you in our love and prayers as you go forward as a couple!!  Love always,  Rosemarie P.S.  I cannot believe you did all that in 23 days!  No wonder it is called 'The Amazing Race.'

I had the pleasure of meeting Ken and Tina last night at this party and I must say that I have never met two nicer people in my life. They are warm and real. I can say that Tina is NOTHING like they portrayed her on TV. I am a Amazing Race junkie and they were my favorite couple from day one on this season. My nephew is the pastor of the new church and I have heard so many wonderful things about them and their son that I feel it was a honor to meet them and I wish them nothing but the best of luck in their personal endevors and I can't wait for the finale. I have never watched the Amazing Race before this season. I met Tina and Ken's son John while visting my nephew Brian Pflieger's church, Focal Point. He is how I found out that they were on the show. The way he talked about his parents amazed me. I could tell that he came from a loving home. I just had to watch it to see if they were really like he said they were. They were. I watch every week now, cry with them and I laugh with them, I route for them all the way. I can see they really love each other. I see Tina as a strong woman with drive and determination, I see Ken as a strong man and that they really do love each other. I have been told by my family that have met them both that they are just themselves. They are sweet and loving. (My sister was amazed that Ken liked her cookies! lol)I pray that they are the ones that have won the race. But most of all I am so glad that they made it through the rough time and came out winners in thier marriage. WTG Tina and Ken!!!!! I will be watching to see you win!!!   Paula

Tina Baby, I didn’t get a chance to email you yesterday….but I did see the finale on Sunday night. Obviously, I was sad for you, but none-the-less, I’m prouder than proud of you and Kenny. You guys did amazingly well (which I knew you would do)!! Chris and I watched faithfully every Sunday night (and we hardly ever watch any TV whatsoever…because of all of the kids we have running around). But, Sunday nights suddenly became our rendezvous time with Kenny and Tina. We laughed, anguished, and stressed with you as you took on each adventure each week. Oh my goodness….what an adventure!?! What an opportunity! And what an amazing job that you and Kenny did ! My only regret is that Nick and Star won… They were certainly very strong competitors, but you and Kenny were much more likeable because you helped others (besides that…you gave glory to God throughout, while Nick and Star swore, told lies, etc.). But it is what it is… And you have been all around the world on a documented amazing race. Wow! What a terrific accomplishment. Congratulations!!!!!! Great job, Tina. Chris and I love you, and we are very very proud of you (and Kenny). Say hi to him for us, and we can’t wait to see you live and in person (so we can get your autograph!) instead of seeing you on TV on Sunday nights…we’re going to miss that each week now. Hi to both of you! I enjoyed watching you both on the Amazing Race. You both gave it your all! To see that you put your marriage back together was worth it all. I have been divorced for over 6 years and its not easy. In my situation it is much better for me. Although I do miss having a mate. I am just trying to raise my children and make the best of my situation. To know that you both are born again Christians is awesome. Without God I would have never made it. I also am a born again Christian. If God wills for me to have a mate that would be great. I love to travel but of course not as much as you. I only have been in the US. Thanks for inspiring me in my life. In God all things are possible. My prayer is that the Lord would bring someone in my life who likes to travel and is a Christian. Also that is awesome that your son is starting a church. I will pray that God keeps on ministering to the both of you.  I want to encourage you to watch the AMAZING RACE this September (I don't get paid by the network!).   One of the couples you will see are GREAT friends of ours.  Coach Greene used to coach here at Purdue.  I married him and his wife, Tina, in Florida a few years back.   They are on the Amazing Race!   Here is a neat secret....  just before they boarded the plane to go to their beginning destination (where they lose all cellphones privileges, etc), they called me, so that we three could pray together.   THAT'S how they wanted to begin their race!   What an encouragement they are!   WATCH and follow the race to see if they win!

For the second consecutive leg, Ken and Tina were the first team to arrive at the Pit Stop.  As their reward, they won a seven night trip to Cabos San Lucas Islands and the chance to race in an America's Cup yacht match race. 

Hello!!! Charlie and I enjoyed watching the show last evening. We were laughing at the bike and hat ride you had to do through the streets. You both managed to hang on and sail through unharmed. The next riot was seeing Ken in the wrestling match with a woman!!! He did the plays perfectly. Tina, I can't believe you climbed down that net. You are incredibly brave.

meant to tell you....................  have been having so much fun watching the show!  This past Sunday I was visiting my late husband's family in Peoria and told my 7 year old "step-granddaughter" that I had to run upstairs to her room to watch the show while everyone else was tuned into the baseball game.  I told her my friend Tina was on the show and explained the concept to her.  She immediately went down to her basement and made a poster that she attached to a yard stick that read GO TINA AND KENNY!  So you now have another cheerleader on board!  You really havebecome the team to root for!   Tina-Marie
